Women I respect and admire...

There are several women I have had the privilege of knowing whom I admire.  I admire their ability to love, serve and contribute to society in a world where this is difficult to accomplish.

One such woman I've known has found a way to balance mommy hood with a successful career while maintaining her individuality as a woman.  Her ability to focus on the important and now is astounding to me. I point my grown daughter toward this woman's example when the dilemma of balance all women confront arises for her.  It takes work and scheduling, but it can be done.

There are women I've crossed paths with who are enduring the reality of an adulterous husband yet these women walk with grace and determination.  I admire them.  I've met women who have lost a child and are experiencing the grief while maintaining life as best as they can.  There are women grieving their husband's death after many years of marriage who now find themselves in an unfamiliar season.  As they walk the stages of grief and learn the new normal, they are vulnerable, yet confident God will see them through.  One woman, younger than myself, became an award winning body builder recently.  Against the "religious" opinions of some, she pushed forth, breaking chains for many women by posting her achievements and making them public.  I'm not even sure she knows she did this for others.  Each of these women, whether in my life long term or only for a moment, have impacted me and made me a better woman.

We can surround ourselves with women who will encourage us and challenge us to our goals.  Or we can continually surround ourselves with those who tell us we cannot accomplish or improve our situations.  The choice is ours to make.  I'm not saying we should be "down trodden" believing we are not valuable at the moment, because I am and you are very valuable.  Best said, "I love myself enough to want God's best for myself and those around me."

Challenge for today: Make a list of the women you admire and why.  Decide how you can build on the common trait you admire in these women.  My recommendation is you find scripture in the bible to support the value, read it, memorize it and make it your own.

Extra challenge:  Tell at least one of these women you admire them and why.  It will be an encouragement to both of you.
