Summer 2015 has been a whirlwind of travel, family time and fun, and meeting refugees fleeing the violence of terrorists. It's been a contradictory season for me. Attending a family wedding in California started my summer. It was joyfilled, happy and all were celebrating the union of this young couple who both are dedicated to honoring God in their lives.
Following this trip, I headed to Europe to work alongside talented and gifted leaders. From Europe, I headed to the beautiful country of Jordan. It is a loving, modern and stunning country - desert, mountains and the Dead Sea! During my visit, I spent time again with talented leaders in the humanitarian world who allowed me to meet families living as refugees in their country. The families fled violence in Iraq and Syria. My experience with these people touched my heart! The families were living well in their homelands. One day, they learned of impending violence if they stayed - so they fled, grabbing only what they could in the minutes allowed.
Upon my return home, my family was blessed to stay at an acquaintances beach home. Our grown children (including spouses) joined us in the four bedroom home for three days. Laughing, playing games and enjoying each other's company. My husband and I then sadly said goodbye to the kids, as they headed back to work and responsibilities. Two days together, a rare occurrence, were followed by friends coming out for two days. We were filled with gratitude for those choosing to be a part of our lives. Grown children are often busy, but ours came to be with us. This is a tremendous blessing. Friends finding time to share is a special treat.
Once we'd unpacked from the beach, I was on the road again, literally! Heading to Georgia with girlfriends. We met another friend upon arrival! Crafts, nature, bird-buggy and horseback rides were only part of the fun!
And to wrap up my summer, we hosted my young nieces for summer camp at our home! Whew! Gatorland, Zoo, swimming and St. Augustine! Loved it!
God gave us friends and families to encourage, edify and lift us! What a wonderful gift!
Challenge: Overlook faults, forgive trespasses and love your family and friends!
